Designing future-ready industry transition programmes
The context
Climate KIC is the European Union's leading innovation agency for climate, driving systemic change through innovation, entrepreneurship and large-scale transformation programmes. They launched the Future Clean Industry Scenarios track to help industries prepare for the transition to a climate-neutral economy through systems thinking, foresight and cross-sector collaboration. As part of the programme, the textile sector was selected as a pilot to develop and test a learning methodology that could later be adapted to other industries.

Our approach
- Co-designed the learning methodology for the Future Clean Industry Scenarios track, combining systems thinking, futures thinking and collaborative innovation.
- Used the textile industry as a pilot ecosystem to test the approach, validate learning outcomes and generate best practices for future sector applications.
- Structured the programme as a progressive learning journey, guiding participants from understanding system dynamics to developing future scenarios and collaborative project opportunities.
- Integrated practical examples from sustainability startups to connect strategic concepts with real-world innovation.
Our solution
- Designed and delivered the Future-Ready Textile workshop series as the first implementation of the Future Clean Industry Scenarios track. The programme consisted of three interactive workshops supported by deep-dive learning materials, enabling participants to move from systems understanding to identifying actionable collaboration opportunities.
- Developed a scalable learning framework that combined systems thinking, scenario development and multi-stakeholder collaboration, creating a methodology that can be replicated across additional industrial sectors beyond textiles.
- Built participants' capacity to drive systemic change, strengthening their understanding of value chain interdependencies while generating a portfolio of collaborative ideas and future business opportunities.
- Produced a reusable toolkit of facilitation guides, workshop materials and learning resources, providing Climate KIC with a long-term asset for future capacity-building programmes. The pilot received consistently positive feedback from participants and generated valuable insights into designing engaging learning experiences for businesses and multi-stakeholder ecosystems.
